I don’t remember how I got onto this series. It’s compelling and in a richly drawn world. A new palace appears outside a small fishing village. No on knows who built it so fast, or why the king has moved the court from the capital.

Sometimes listening to a podcast can give you nice surprises. At the end of one the guest inserted a recommendation for Ben’s books and I’m glad I followed up. The series is also available as graphic novels! The story of a police office who learns to do magic in pursuit of some of the most evil criminals.

I’m a sucker for stories about people who don’t fit in their families. This one made me get over my distaste for vampire stories. As much as Cassie tries to avoid magic, it comes after her hard and fast.

I can’t remember why I bought this book, but I’m glad I did. This series is great fun with a lot of snark flavoring the danger.

I love Ann’s work. This series has the most ‘magic’ in it, but all of her books are fun to read because her characters are amazing.

I love an underdog with secrets. In this series, there are characters to love, hate, and distrust. My favorite type of story.
